one

We cannot tell which one word
 will start a revolution
 or open the most closed minds.
We do know with silence two things will occur;
 either nothing
or
the worst we can imagine.

You hit the nail on the head. In my life, one of the hallmarks of a good relationship is the ability to share companionable silence. On the other hand, there are 1 or 2 who use it as a weapon of displeasure. Ignoring someone can be as hurtful as slinging epithets at them.

If you only had ONE word to share with the world, what word would that be?
Imagine taking that moment of universal fame and blurting that word to a worldwide audience, some of whom might actually take it in.
Imagine what they would do with it.
Would it change their lives?
If not, then how many words WOULD it take to change ONE person's life?

@Rick: I love that idea.

My first answer was "rosebud".
Then I got serious
and couldn't think of anything.

@Li : that brings up another scenario: Which would be worse?: to be in a cell alone or to be in a cell with someone who would not speak to you?
